Personal note

We’re heading into what I consider to be the most exciting time of year. It’s as if the year builds to a climax; as if we have been climbing a high hill for months and are just about to reach the top. Soon we will be able to coast downhill into the delight and softness of Spring, with its accompanying burst of creativity.

What is that climax? For some, it may consist of high excitement, followed by post-party depression. For others, it may consist of a feeling of being blocked. In this period that I call the Dark of the Year, it’s best not to struggle.  Breathe deeply and choose not to struggle.

Daffodil and tulip bulbs aren’t struggling; they are lying snugly beneath the earth waiting for the impulse to arrive that will send them shooting towards the sun.

So relax, find peace within yourself, and rest assured that Spring will arrive, and with it, new beginnings.

Deep Peace to You

(The following poem was sent to me by a very spiritual friend. I am passing it on to you because it feels so appropriate for the Winter Solstice.)

In this most Sacred Season of Grace and Renewal
I wish you Great Joy in Your Heart
and
Deep Peace in Your Soul
***
Deep peace of the running wave to you
Deep peace of the flowing air to you
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you
Deep peace of the shining stars to you
Deep peace, deep peace
